3rd Annual Portside's Summer Camp
Interactive Arts Show!
VWVOFFKA will be showing the work of 30 children who participated in the Portside Arts Center’s 2011 summer camp. Through out the 6-week program the Portside instilled upon these little minds many different arts & craft techniques using mostly found/recycled materials. From building a small scale replica of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge out of recycled bottles and cardboard to their individual paintings, drawings and sculptures, these children worked very hard on their projects in anticipation of this final showing. The Portside incorporated character-building workshops alongside of the arts & crafts to build the campers self-esteem & confidence, so come to VWVOFFKA and see all of the Portsider’s hard work
and dedication to the arts!
On First Friday, June 3rd, 2011 we will be hosting a pop-up shop curated by Sincerely, Thompson. The gallery will be transformed into a contemporary store space for the vintage connoisseur and bargain hunter. Please stop by to see the new space, just two blocks north of the bubble, and pick up some fashionable wares.
Press Release:
Vintage retailer Sincerely, Thompson will host a pop-up shop at the Vvwoffka Gallery in Fishtown for June’s First Friday. The Frankford Avenue gallery will be transformed into a conceptual vintage store for one night only. The pop-up will be in the vein of a gallery exhibition, creating displays assembled from antique furniture and natural elements.
Sincerely, Thompson is the project of Bridget Thompson, who spends her time in search of interesting pieces at thrift stores and antique markets. Items will include retro house wares and handpicked vintage clothing ranging from the 50’s to the 90’s. Fifties leather handbags and nineties high-waisted shorts will be a few of the highlighted items. The event takes place on June 3rd from 7-10PM at 2311 Frankford Avenue and will include refreshments and music.
